The number one event in Indianapolis that I look forward to every year is the Indiana State Fair.
Just typing those words and knowing that it is less than a month away has my mouth salivating for tenderloin and my camera finger itchy to take pictures of farmers and tractors.

While there is an admission to the fair itself there is always a fantastic lineup of the best free concerts along the back of the fairgrounds. This year may be the best year yet.
Be sure to get in line early to watch the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge each day. This is possibly my daughters favorite part of the fair (aside from corn dogs.) There is also the lumberjack show, which while loud always gets my husband all worked up and excited from the manliness of it all.

The concert stage this year will feature artists (for free!) such as Howie Day, Chris Young, Bucky Covington (American Idol) and wait for it...MC HAMMER.

Also, no restaurants in Indianapolis can touch fair food, last year I gained at least five pounds by the time the fair left town, it would have been more had it not been for all the walking.
The time to start planning your trip is now, the fair runs August 6th-August 23rd.
