I write this as the mother of a daughter who never had any brothers and the closest I've ever come to having a son and/or brother is my husband or borrowing other peoples little boys.
Frankly when I think of taking my daughter to the upcoming Walking with Dinosaurs ARENA! SPECTACULAR! at the Conseco Field House in July I shake my head, she'd HATE IT. On the other hand I picture the 4' and under set of boys that I know. And they would LOVE IT. So to you gentlemen? I dedicate this post to you. (And any of you dino loving girls out there too!)
Now anyone who has been to the Indianapolis Children's Museum knows that the dinosaur exhibit is pretty spectacular (it's also what tipped me off to the fact that my kid does NOT do dinosaurs.) For the friends that I have with little kids who love dinosaurs many a rainy day is spent digging up bones or wandering around the exhibit. But to have the chance to see 15 different LIFE SIZE dinosaurs in downtown Indianapolis? I'm not sure any little kid who knows the difference between a triceratops and a tyrannosaurus this is the show for you.
The Brachiosaurus is 36 feet tall and 56 feet long.
DUDE.
The show takes place a month from now, July 8th through the 12th. In case you were considering a weekend getaway with your little dinosaur lover there are great packages available at multiple downtown Indianapolis hotels. I can promise you of all the events in Indianapolis this summer that may or may not involve dinosaurs, this is THE ONE. The next closest showing? Minneapolis or New York.
Seriously.
Indy is the place to be for the dinosaurs.
