Oh my, this is my first real blog entry and I'm actually kinda nervous. It's like starting first grade all over again...or not, but something sort of like that.

Anyway, let's get to the meat of this matter: my Indianapolis trip idea(s) for this weekend.  First, the Indianapolis Air Show (Mt. Comfort Airport) is a must see for just about anyone.  I'll admit that my foray to the Indianapolis Air Show a few years ago was met with some resistance, but I couldn't help but be captivated by all of the action going on.  The show's "performances" this year include military demonstrations (including a rare appearance by the USAF F-22A Raptor Demo Team), flyovers by massive bombers and stunt/aerobatic flying routines. And, that's just some of what happens in the sky.  On the ground are more than a dozen other aircrafts to tour, a classic car show and a military history exhibit.  But, for the ultimate experience, a little cash will get you into - yes, into - one of three warbirds for your own ride.  How awesome would that be?!?  For more information on tickets, schedule and all that good stuff, click here.

We'll continue to cruise at 30,000 feet and head to the IMAX Theater downtown (inside the Indiana State Museum at White River State Park) for the animated, 3D "Fly Me to the Moon." It's a full-length feature film is the story of three spirited and curious pre-teen flies (that's not a typo) who live across from Cape Canaveral in 1969 and dream of going into space. It's a super cute way to connect your kids to one of the most memorable moment's in history: man's first walk on the moon.

And, since we're working around a travel/transportation-like theme here, allow me to suggest an overnight in one of the 26 authentic Pullman train car guest rooms at the Crowne Plaza at Historic Union Station.  Seriously - you will blow your kid's mind with this.  It's not just for kids, though...my husband and I stayed in the Diamond Jim Brady car on our wedding night.  Ah, memories!

I found these ideas and lots more that I didn't include by using our online web calendar.  You can sort by event type, date range, area of town, etc.  There were multiple pages of results just for this weekend, so check it out for a full list of what's happening.

Heading out this weekend for an event or activity I didn't mention?  Please, tell me about it.  Send me suggestions or your trip ideas, too!  And, have fun this weekend.
