Wow - it's Thursday already...love how quickly that came around this week...and I know that we're all thinking about the weekend. It's not just me, right?!?
There are three big events going on this weekend in Indy - all of which I have personally experienced - that I want to suggest you check out with your friends and family. First is Oktoberfest. For the last 33 years, Oktoberfest has been held at German Park, but is trying out new digs this year at the Indiana State Fairgrounds (presumably because the festival outgrew the space at German Park, which I quite liked as a venue). Anyway, you'll find authentic German foods, a nice variety of German beer (mmm...beer!), live music, games for kids and adults and more. But, I think the coolest thing being offered this year is the Oktoberfest Train from the Fishers Train Station to the State Fairgrounds. So, go ahead - indulge in those German beers!
Let's continue our globetrotting ways and take a visit to Greece. OK - not Greece
exactly, but the Greek Fest at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Immerse yourself in all things Greek, but for goodness sake go hungry because the food is to.die.for. SO good. Like, ridiculous good. I'm suddenly hungry again (I'm barely back from lunch) just thinking about the saganaki, spanakopita, loukoumades...somebody stop me! It's all super yum!
Finally, the gorgeous grounds of the Indianapolis Museum or Art will serve as the backdrop for the annual Penrod Arts Fair. This year, more than 330 artists will showcase their wares - all kinds of art in a variety of forms. Oh, and there's also entertainment on five stages, children's activities, and 20 different food and beverage vendors. I mean - it is called "Indiana's Nicest Day" for a reason!
For more events in Indianapolis this weekend, visit our calendar of events. You can also map your trip, book a hotel room and read customer reviews submitted by other users!
Have a fun and safe weekend in Indy, everyone!
