As I walked over from my office to Victory Field recently, I snapped a few shots of the expansion project underway on the northwest corner of the convention center.

Although not as large as the main portion of the expansion project, this is still an important addition for a couple of reasons  It will add 4 additional breakout rooms to this end of the building near exhibit halls A and B where additional meeting space is sorely needed.  It also includes the infrastructure that will allow the JW Marriott hotel complex to connect via skybridge to the building.

I was standing between meeting room 124 and the entrance to Exhibit Hall B looking west when I took this photo.

Any groups utilizing exhibit halls A or B for the next year while this project is underway need not worry about the impact of this project on the main access to their exihibit halls - as you can see from this photo of the temporary wall separating the construction zone from the pre-function space, you don't even notice what is transpiring outside.  They even made sure the power outlets were incorporated into the temporary wall for registration booth needs.

Once outside this is the current view looking east.  The main glass cube entrance on this corner of the building will remain unchanged.  The new 1600 square foot breakout rooms and the skybridge connection fit nicely between this entrance and the existing 120-124 meeting rooms.

The finished product (the meeting rooms will be available during the summer of 2009) will look like this...
