Of all the free Indianapolis attractions involving kids, Holliday Park takes the proverbial cake. 94 acres of land nestled in what is (in my opinion (and I'm always right)) Indianapolis' most beautiful and historic neighborhood.
Not only does the park boast three different ENORMOUS (award winning) playgrounds there is also a nature center and miles of hikable trails.
But let's discuss the playgrounds.
One is fenced in and low to the ground just for little people. With only one way in and out it's a lot easier to relax and let your little climber go wild. The next playground is wiiide and expansive. Whenever I go with a friend we always find excuses to play on this playground, perfect for little kids who can manage climbing and crawling on their own. The third playground is the kind of playground dreams are made of. The biggest slides I've ever seen. Ladders and levels and bells and whistles and turrets. All of the playgrounds are next to each other and are surrounded on all sides by old shade trees and picnic benches.
Honestly? The only drawback is that the only restrooms available by the playgrounds are port-a-potties. So come with wipes and hand sanitizer.
For any of you spouses who are considering traveling with your children along with your significant other to Indianapolis for business, Holliday Park is the perfect place to spend the day while your loved one is slaving away within four walls. (But try not to rub it in.)
